Biography
The sex bomb of Indian cinema, the voluptuous beauty known for her daring attitude, Mallika Sherawat is definitely woman with a difference. Mallika has surpassed the traditional image of Bollywood queens and has set a new trend in the Hindi film industry. She has always been in news because of her skin show and bold statements. Originally known as Reema Lamba, Mallika was born on 24th October 1981 in the small town of Rohtak in Haryana, India.
Despite of being born in a very conservative and orthodox family, since childhood Mallika dreamt of making it to the glamour world. She did her graduation in Philosophy from Miranda House, the well-known college of Delhi University. It is said that Mallika brought her first pair of jeans when she entered the college. After studies, against the wishes of her parents, Mallika left for Mumbai to find her place under the sun. Mallika was so desperate to make it to the showbiz that she did not only ignore what her father wanted her to do but also stepped out of her marriage with Jet Airways pilot, Captain Karan Singh Gill. She had tied nuptial bond with Karan right after her graduation and was also working as a part time airhostess.
Acquiring success would have been quite difficult and late if Mallika had not stooped to immense skin show in the movies. It was for the first time that a Bollywood actress dared to expose herself to a great extent as Mallika did. She made her debut by a small role in the Vashu Bhagani’s film Jeena Sirf Mere Liye. But Mallika proved to be hit on the silver screen with her bold scenes and scanty clothes from her movies Khwahish and Murder. In Khwahish Mallika had done seventeen smooch scenes which drew the attention of Indian audience right away. While because of sensual bed scenes Murder was a big hit at the box office in 2004. This movie established Mallika as hottest heroine of Bollywood. She was nominated in the Best Actress category in the Zee Cine Awards for her stunning performance in Murder.
But it is not just Bollywood where Mallika has made an impression. This Haryana girl also went international with her small role in Jackie Chan’s movie, The Myth. For the promotion of this film she appeared in mind-blowing costumes at the Cannes Film Festival. Her audacity and tons of oomph were enough to blow the mind of all those present in the festival. Due to this Mallika was said to bear resemblance with the renowned Hollywood actress Halle Berry.
Mallika created history in Indian cinema when she received an offer from the Playboy magazine to pose nude for their cover page. But she declined the offer because of her morals and upbringing. However, Mallika believes that the Indian film industry revolves on the axis of two ‘S’ i.e. Sex and Shahrukh Khan. Off the screen she is said to live like a nun. She thinks in Hindi, loves her country and also typical Haryana food.
